This is a reasonably subjective question. Yet , when you are considering making large photography images that are meant for public display or to be gifts Canvas Digital Photo Prints have a prestige quality to them immaterial else. A downside with printing to painting instead of printing on paper is that there are many types of printing paper (i. e. high contrast) which add visual characteristics to a final print, and canvas image prints no longer reproduce extremely vivid colors to the same magnitude as they would show up on specific photography paperwork. The overall look is still quite good, but don’t expect miracles with very vivid colors. On top of that, the smoother surface of photography paper does hold detail better, but this matters less with greater canvas prints as visitors tend to appreciate the photographer from an increased distance and they view the complete print as a whole.
Something else to consider is that Okay Art photography paper has a practical size limit. When you’re framing a paper print, you’ll use a window matte which limits you to the major size matte panels available, which are 40×60 inches in america (you could always do customer framework, but which can be at a considerable and perhaps unneeded cost). Some rare home window matte go up to 48×96, but in any case this limits your Fine Art print to roughly 32×40 inches, matting out to a framework size of about 40×48 inches. If you want larger paper prints – and many an excellent art photographer does – you have to enterprise into unconventional methods (i. e. mounting on to aluminum sheets, face installing on the plexiglass or other custom orders that perhaps detract from the art work quality that you are looking for).
This is not the case with canvas styles, as you can stretch out the canvas onto traction bars just like an oil painting – at practically any size you can possibly imagine, then you can body it like an olive oil painting, either in a frame with or without glass, or in a “floater” frame (a modern look).
The sealer is critical, as it must totally encapsulate the archival printer inks in order to avoid unwanted direct exposure from UV rays and ozone. The sealer must also be water resilient, it no proof. A professional, museum grade sealer can allow someone to run your canvas under water and there will be no damage!
Last but not least, if you plan on displaying you image newspaper print without glass, you are going to need to coat the print in a defensive lacquer. This is also true with ink jet prints made using color inks, because the color sits on the surface of the print. Color ink does not drain into the print; this means the print’s surface is delicate thus needing some sort of safety. The necessary preparation and research can produce a canvas digital print a lot more impressive than a newspaper print.
